Drone Buddy
A student-commissionable autonomous surveillance drone.
- The drone is called through a smartphone app to the student’s location.
- The drone tracks and films the student on their way back to their domicile in order to deter any would-be aggressor.
- After being decommissioned by the student, the drone returns to the central base for recharging.
Motivation
Over the past decade, the frequency of violent crimes, like shootings, has increased almost 4-fold on college campuses. The motivation for developing Drone Buddy was to help students feel more secure when alone on the outskirts of campus, and to provide footage that could help catch perpetrators in the event that Drone Buddy fails to deter them from committing a crime.
